So, my birthday gift has finally arrived! Thanks Mezio! Now I can create 5 gallons (60 bottles) of Coopers Bavarian Lager with a sweet and spice hop flavor. In about roughly 2 months I should have some nice home brewed cerveza! Cheers!

I’m sure everyone has experienced the after effects of a night that isn’t remembered. Headache, nausea, loss of appetite, dehydration, dizziness, and the fact that you just wish it never happened. Well, from experience in the bar tending industry, the are many ways you can prepare yourself for a more cheerful morning where the sun shines and the flowers bloom. Here are some simple, yet effective steps you can take to prevent the hangover.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day to ensure that you are 100% hydrated.

Eat a decent meal prior to drinking. I’m not talking about a salad or an apple, I’m talking about something with a little substance like pasta, a hamburger, or sandwich and chips.

Stay away from sweet drinks and draft beer. The sugar is high and causes dehydration leading to headaches.

Moderate yourself. Don’t slam 14 drinks in 20 minutes, take your time and enjoy the company. You will eventually have a buzz.

If your going to drink whiskey/bourbon drink it on the rocks with water. If you must have 7 or coke then have a water back at your side. This will help prevent the sugar hangover.

If your starting to get too wasted. Slow down. Grab some cheese sticks and wings. You’ll thank yourself in the morning.

Have to drink 100 gallons of beer? Drink bottle beer.

DO NOT mix all kinds of drinks. If you start with beer, finish with beer.

After the night is over, drink some water before you do to bed.

Finally if you still have a hangover in the morning, make a bloody mary and take an aspirin

A lot of this may seem like common sense but I guarantee you that it gets ignored by people every day. A little effort in hangover prevention is just smart. If you really don’t want one then don’t drink.
